The first customer meeting
The complete bespoke fragrance brand creation for Ada Grey is possibly the favourite range we have ever worked on. Every range is exciting and interesting, this one was just a teeny bit more so. Vicky got to really run with her ideas alongside the founder of Ada Grey. Two creative business owners sharing ideas can create magic.

When Vicky met the founder of Ada Grey the ideas just started to flow over many cups of coffee and hot chocolate. The founder was also based in South Wales which made this much easier. The lady behind the brand wanted everything to reflect her heritage . It was hugely important that it reflected the essence of Ada Greys Romany Gypsy spirit and felt totally authentic, both in terms of the branding and the fragrances chosen. Each fragrance was to tell a story and share an important feeling of ancestoral memories. Sultry, woody, herbal, floral, musky, the fragrances were going to be incredible. Reining in our excitement about the possibilities was harder. This did not feel like work it was fun. Vicky and Ada Greys founder spent weeks going though fragrances, making a change here and there, adding a blend, ruling out some. Discussions were had about the story each fragrance could tell and how it could bring a little part of the important and evocative heritage into customers homes. The entire range needed to feel like it had been curated in Ada Grey’s very own Vardo.

The Whimsical wander held a blend of plum, rose and patchouli, envoking the heady, fruity air on a stroll through Ada’s forest. The Vardos Veil was filled with amber, black pepper and sandalwood. A wonderfully woody and peppery blend giving the warmth of Ada’s home in the Vardo. The signature Ada Grey candle was blended with Ada herself mind and with the deep fragrance of pomegranate blended with the floral viola. Little Bit White Label offers a large choice of fragrances. A selection can be found at The Fragrance Menu

Choosing the all important fragrance blends
All fragrances were made in a single wick and a three wick candle. The three wick also had a rose shape. There were two different types of boxed wax melts, one cream bar type and one with pink rose shaped melts containing a biodegradable deep pink glitter powder for an alluring swirl when melted. There were also apothecary style diffusers for each fragrance.

A core range was settled upon with further fragrances then being added for Autumn and Christmas. The core range used a red glass candle, Autumn would be a rich amber glass and Christmas was the glamours mirrored red glass. The glass matched the opulence and quality of the fragrance blends.

Bespoke branding and packaging
Branding and packaging was incredibly important to create a high end opulent and cohesive brand. The main brand logo needed to feature Ada herself. It needed to capture her beauty, strength and resilience. The founder supplied lots of references for the main image which Chris was able to adapt using Adobe Illustrator into a usable image not only for the main logo but also for labels, swing tags, wax seals etc. Find out more about our design work at https://littlebitwhitelabel.co.uk/candle-label-design-with-adobe-illustrator-not-ai/

While the images were being created Vicky was busy sourcing packaging. Boxes for wax melts, candles and diffusers were required. The wax seals needed to be just the right gold. The ribbon had to pick out the colours in the labels and swing tags. There was a lot of ribbon! It all took time and attention to detail. It also involved more coffee and hot chocolate meetings to check details.

Due to longstanding contacts in the print industry Vicky was able to ensure that the labels and swing tags would have exactly the same print colours despite being printed on completely different machines. She made calls to the printers and discussed how this could be achieved. They were able to link all work going through their systems to ensure complete colour accuracy. The years of experience and contacts built really do make the difference when it comes to achieving exceptional results. It was a proud moment when www.adagrey.co.uk launched and we wish Ada’s founder every success her fabulous brand deserves
