Little Bit Different create small batch white label candles in their candle kitchen in Swansea. Sometimes their candles need to be other colours.
When South Wales tourist attraction, Big Pit, contacted Vicky to ask her to create four different candles for them one needed to be black and look like it had pieces of coal on top of it. This was a totally new challenge. Black candles are notoriously hard to make. They have a tendency to be more purple than black. Vicky tried a few different wax colourants with varying results.
Vicky also sourced some different moulds to try to create the coal look. She was able to adapt one of the mould types and create several different coal shapes for a more authentic look. One of the wax colourants produced a good dense black colour. Testing began with the coloured wax and the coal shapes on top. It was important to ensure that the additional shapes did not cause the wax to flood the wick and stop it burning correctly. Vicky was able to work out the amount of wax that could be added in the form of coal shapes to give the look the customer required without hindering the way the candle burned. The result was a candle that burned evenly all the way to the bottom without tunnelling or flooding the wick.
The oils used were all sourced from our trusted UK oil supplier. The coal candle needed to have a smokey type of scent but without it being too much like burning wood. Several options were tested before Vicky and the customer were happy. Our most popular fragrances can be found in our fragrance menu

The labels for the four Big Pit candles were designed by one of their team so Vicky was able to order the labels using their artwork and then apply them once the candles were ready.
Small batch white label candles
Working with large organisations like Big Pit is still exciting for Vicky and Chris. We might be a small family run candle business who makes small batch unique candles but we can scale up when our customers need us too. The same care and attention goes into every candle and order. A one off order from an online customer or 1000 candles for a white label customer, they all get the same high quality oils and soy wax and the same skills and experience.
